Recent reviews paint a mixed picture: some owners describe rapid admission in emergencies, detailed explanations of options and costs, and thoughtful bereavement keepsakes (paw prints in a card, fur in a vial). Others report poor communication/continuity (seeing different vets repeatedly), disputed handling in emergencies, and conflicting pricing quotes for the same type of diagnostic work (X-rays).

So grateful! my dog was so poorly and we didn’t think he could come back from this, with all of the support from the team over Christmas he came back fighting, fantastic friendly staff too

Christmas night my dog suddenly became ill, we called them as it was an emergency and we lived 2 minutes away. The attitude the receptionist gave on the phone was disgusting, when we got there, my dog was walking around delirious and the vet just stood there with their hands in their pockets not even bothering to look at him or check him over. The vet was rolling their eyes and there’s many words I could use for this vet but I won’t. Sadly my dog did pass away on his own accord. A couple days later we called them, and said we’re using a different crematorium business and they were on their way to pick him up, we was then told he’d already been sent to their crematorium they use without our permission. This vet practice has no compassion for animals all they care about is money. No clue how the vet that dealt with us is even qualified.

We are extremely disappointed with the care our 9-year-old cat Gizzy received at Roebuck Vets. Despite countless visits over the past year for ongoing UTI issues, we saw a different vet every time, spent a huge amount of money, and still felt like no one was truly listening or investigating properly. When Gizzy suddenly became unwell recently, Roebuck failed to spot any signs of lymphoma or even suggest further tests that could have helped us get answers sooner. We only received a call from them after we transferred her records to another vet for a second opinion — and even then, at 7pm, it was more guessing, with still no mention of a scan. What’s even more disheartening is that when we informed Roebuck of Gizzy’s passing, we received no reply at all. In contrast, the vet we transferred to sent us a heartfelt condolence card within two days. After years with Roebuck, it genuinely feels like they cared more about taking our money than helping our cat. We will not be registering any future pets with them again.

The vet we saw today was brilliant, our dachshund Luna is frightened of everything and I was worried she would be snappy. she had acted this way when she had her 2 previous injections. Today I was very impressed with the vet we saw, she spent time making friends with her and offering her chews, she didn't even flinch when the injection was administered.

I recently went through a difficult time with my dog who unexpectedly and suddenly became very unwell. The minute I brought her in I was listened to and she was immediately admitted. Everyone from the receptionist to the nurse to the vet were extremely compassionate and caring and not only cared for my pet but cared for me. The vet explained everything to me in detail from the cost to the procedures so I could make the right decision by my beloved pet. Even when I bought her home I was allowed to call with any concern I might have and I was listened to. I cannot fault the care my dog received from all members of staff. I love this vet and despite moving 30 minutes away I stuck with them because of their excellence. Would 1000% recommend this veterinary practice to everyone! Thank you so much again!

Treatment from the out of hours team was 10 🌟. Very professional, compassionate and supportive. Dealt with my issues and offered great advice regarding aftercare. I can’t remember their names but I’ll never forget what they did. THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!! You are the “🐶⚽️🏀” 😉 From Sorsha and her newborn fur-babies.

They wanted £500-£600 for an x ray for our cats foot on Thursday last week, no diagnosis without . The following Tuesday we saw another vet at the same practice who said it was £800! Again no diagnosis & then the idiot let our cat jump off the table & just said he’ll be alright. Fuming. We took him to Hitchin vets for a second opinion who said it’s definatly broken & charges us £311 for the consultation, X-ray & sedation . The difference between the 2 vets was night & day. Oh & we were charged an additional £55 to let him jump off the table . Attached is the X-ray , so pretty obvious it was broken.

I cannot thank the team enough for the extraordinary care and compassion they showed during a very difficult time. When our beloved cat Loki was involved in a car accident, we were devastated, but from the initial phone call to the moment I walked through their doors, I was met with kindness, understanding and a level of support that went far beyond what I could have ever expected. Everyone I spoke to were not only professional and skilled in handling such a traumatic situation, but they also showed genuine empathy. They made every effort to contact me quickly, keeping me informed at every step. Their compassion made all the difference. What touched me the most were the small but deeply meaningful gestures, like the tiny paw prints in cards and some of Loki’s fur they gave me in a vial. These keepsakes may seem simple, but they meant the world to my family and I. It’s proof of how much they truly care, not just for our pets, but for us as their families too. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for looking after Loki with dignity and for treating me with such warmth and humanity. You are all truly exceptional. Thank you.
