From the latest reviews available to us, experiences are mixed: several owners describe kind vets and reception staff who explain options clearly, while multiple 1‑star reviews raise concerns about communication, billing/administrative errors (including being sent another client’s bill), and difficulty getting through by phone. One review reports being charged for a nail clip that the reviewer says was not completed.
Services and capabilities mentioned on the clinic website include
Emergency cover: the website states that when the clinic is closed, emergency cover is provided by Vets Now Barnet.
Named team members from the clinic website
Reception team: mentioned positively in one 5‑star review (“all of the receptionists” were kind), but other reviews describe difficulty getting calls answered and dissatisfaction with customer service responses.

Alex was absolutely very kind understanding and sympathetic with my cat Lucky … and so where all of the receptionists.

Very kind and professional stuff. They patiently explain any questions I had and they’ve always been available wherever I needed to call them and book an appointment.

AVOID THIS VETS AT ALL COSTS!!!! Review for the general manager at Vets for Pets Watford I’m extremely disappointed with the service I received at Vets for Pets Watford. I brought my cat in specifically for a straightforward nail clipping — a service that was advertised, booked, and paid for. However, not a single nail was clipped. Despite the service not being carried out, I was still charged £24, and no refund was offered. The nurse who saw my cat was, frankly, awful. She seemed completely unwilling to handle my cat — who, while understandably nervous, was the entire reason I came to a professional in the first place. It was very clear that my cat was simply “too difficult” for her, and instead of showing competence or compassion, she appeared dismissive and uncomfortable. To make matters worse, the nurse later came out and told me she was “face blind” because she had mistaken me for another client sitting nearby. I’m sorry, but that is not professional conduct in a clinical environment. Someone who openly admits to being unable to recognize faces and demonstrates that level of confusion probably shouldn’t be working in a role that requires clear communication and attention to detail — especially when handling animals and interacting with clients. Under the Consumer Rights Act, I am entitled to a refund for a service that was not carried out. Not one nail was clipped, not one part of the service was completed. I came home frustrated — and then, using the burrito method from a YouTube video, I managed to clip two paws’ worth of nails myself. It’s quite concerning that a supposedly trained veterinary professional couldn’t manage what an owner could at home. I would strongly urge management to review this incident, ensure proper training and accountability among staff, and most importantly, stop charging customers for services that are not actually performed.

Came here 3 times and had 3 separate issue 1. Brought my cat to the vet as she had the flu and they checked her over , injected her with two shots before I could even ask what was in them and then said he would leave antibiotics at the front we was then asked to pay £270 for medications and injections, when we questioned this they came back and said it’s only £20 for two sachets and she had accidentally sold us the whole box, what if I get my cat all that medication?? 2. Came back and wanted a scan done and she said I’d have to come back another day and she would send me a quote in 2-3 days and I’d be looking at around 200-300 for the scan, I never heard back and 3 weeks later I called them to follow up as I’d heard nothing 3. Was sent someone else’s bill for a whole surgery someone else’s cat had done for £1096 I won’t be responding as I’ve given up now and want the best for my cat so will be moving to another vet

I would like to share a negative experience with vets for pets in Watford although I need to emphasise this is more of a customer service/management issue. I do have a female pug puppy that had her 1st vaccine with our breeder in Vets for Pets in Hastings. As we live in Watford which is quite far ,I got in contact with Vets for Pets in Hastings and they explained to me that this happens regularly and that I just need.to check with Vets for Pets in Watford that they are happy to honour the 2nd vaccine which is already paid by the breeder. I called quite a few times and was waiting for the receptionist to discuss this with the manager. I was finally told that this is not feasible and I was asked if I would be happy to create a health care plan with them in the future and pay for the 2nd vaccine which costs 80£. I think this is frustrating and my feeling is that their focus is mainly the profit rather than anything else. I called back in Vets for Pets in Hastings and they were surprised that this was not accepted in Watford. Of course after all I am not getting registered with Vets for pets but with a different Veterinary Centre in my area. The cost of the 2nd vaccine is 64£ in this Centre. Kind Regards

Absolutely shocking service, I do not recomment using Vets4Pets Watford. The phones are rarely answered and if you are trying to move an appointment you have to hope your call is answered otherwise if you do not cancel in time they keep your deposit. Maybe get an answer phone so we can leave a message that you can act on rather than penalising the customer.

If your pet is a loved member of the family and you want to feel they are treated as such - do not come to vets4pets! I've been with them for 4 years and have recently left when I realised there's far better surgeries with greater care and compassion than here. I've always struggled to contact them which is difficult when you're trying make an appointment/speak to someone. Sometimes waiting 20-30 minutes to get through. From the cooler reception from staff to the nurses and vets I've met who weren't overly friendly or warm to my dog I didn't get a sense of care or connection on any of my visits over that time. I've now left after my second time of mis-diagnosing or not taking as seriously the concern I had taken my dog in for. One incident was for his eye and one was for this breathing recently. On both occasions I was told the symptoms were allergies or because of his breed (french bulldog) and on both occasions he needed further treatment. One was for an eye infection which I had to take him back for and he was fine after antibiotics (yet another cost and two weeks of discomfort for my dog whilst I gave him saline to treat it until he had proper medication) and the other was because of his breathing which had changed drastically in recent days. On this occasion within a day of seeing them and being told it was allergies OR could be he needed BOAS surgery he deteriorated and I took him to Medivet- they immediately put him on oxygen and he was operated on within the few hours. I've lost all confident vets4pets - when I called to tell them my dog was seriously ill and being operated on and I wanted to leave their surgery as this was the second time I've had to get a second opinion and I had been disappointed with the staff response and accessibility in general, the receptionist just replied with 'okay'. They weren't able to refund me the remaining balance for my pet care for the year - despite me leaving under these circumstances. I naively thought the way this surgery was run was normal until I've moved to medivet. The staff went above and beyond to save my dogs life and also are incredibly warm and welcoming when I've taken him there. It's the complete opposite of experience I've had to date. I have complained to vets4pets but am yet to hear back . . . . .

I would not recommend this practise. Follow a surgical procedure the follow up care was incorrectly communicated. When it was followed up with the store they denied what they had advised (verbally days earlier) and showed no desire to support in helping with the issue. I know mistakes can happen but to refuse any responsibility and show no compassion in rectifying the issue is unacceptable.
