Vets4Pets Watford Century

I really trust the staff at pets4vets to look after my 2 cats! Have unfortunately been in there a lot and the customer care for both my cats and me were fab! Cant rate them highly enough

I’m extremely disappointed with my experience at Vets4Pets Watford and, after five years, I’ll now be moving my rabbits to a different veterinary practice. Over the last five years, I’ve adopted two rescue rabbits through NAWT, who work in partnership with Pets at Home/Vets4Pets Watford. Because of this partnership, I accepted Vets4Pets as our registered veterinary practice and have taken my rabbits there for their annual vaccinations for the past four years. Unfortunately, booking vaccinations as a working pet parent has always been unnecessarily difficult. You can only call on the Monday before the Saturday you want, and you have to call as soon as they open to have any realistic chance of getting an appointment. On two occasions, my booked and prepaid appointments were postponed because they didn’t have the vaccinations in stock. On both occasions, I was given just one day’s notice. I genuinely don’t understand why appointments are being booked without first checking that there is sufficient stock to fulfil them. It’s incredibly frustrating when you’ve arranged your schedule around an appointment, only for it to be cancelled at the last minute. I’ve also found the standard of care to be inconsistent. Some members of staff have been knowledgeable and helpful, but others have had to go and ask colleagues basic questions. During vaccinations, I also found that several members of staff were very short with us and complained about my rabbit’s behaviour. He is a nervous, flighty rabbit who doesn’t enjoy being handled, so I found this particularly disappointing. On several occasions, I felt the appointments were rushed rather than being handled with the patience and care I would expect when dealing with a nervous rabbit. However, the biggest issue occurred when my youngest rabbit had an emergency recently. I called on a Saturday morning and had to contact the out-of-hours service. They were able to offer advice over the phone but, because of their location and the time of day, couldn’t provide further assistance. I called at 7:15am, with the out-of-hours service closing at 8:30am, and I was around an hour’s drive away. I therefore waited for Vets4Pets to open, only to be told that they didn’t have any vets available and that I would need to travel to their sister site, which was another 1 hour and 20 minutes away from me. After already waiting around 1 hour and 45 minutes for help, I was not prepared to make such a long journey with an unwell rabbit without any guarantee that he would actually be seen. I started calling other vets in the Watford area and eventually contacted Langley Vets, who were able to help us. They have been absolutely amazing ever since and I cannot fault the care we have received from them. What has disappointed me further is that, despite Vets4Pets having treated my rabbits for several years and knowing their history, nobody has contacted me since the emergency to check how my rabbit is doing or whether we needed any further support. For me, this experience has completely undermined my confidence in the practice. When you have small animals, particularly rabbits, you need to know that your vet will be there when you genuinely need them. I’ll therefore be moving my rabbits to a different registered veterinary practice and, based on my experience, I would not recommend Vets4Pets Watford, particularly to anyone who owns rabbits or other small mammals.

I took my baby boy, Ash, in for his castrate, the receptionist, Ella, was amazing with booking me in and was very accommodating with my busy schedule, she was very informative with when they do the surgeries, and when I should be able to pick my baby boy up which as a first time cat owner was very reassuring. For the Pre Op assessment we had Rachel go over all of the information, she was very informative. I was told that Claire and Kat performed the surgery and even got a very funny story of my baby post op, they were amazing and they definitely make my very clingy baby happy, they said that he was constantly meowing after his castrate for cuddles! They enjoyed another cuddle with Ash, telling me that if anything seemed out of the ordinary to give them a ring and they will get him in ASAP, before sending us on our way For the post op assessment, Kat checked over him, giving the reassurance that he was all healed and ready to go back to his normal self. He definitely felt at home with the team, and definitely felt comfortable with them as he was constantly meowing for cuddles in the post op assessment too! So so great to have an amazing team all around looking after my baby.

Very kind and professional stuff. They patiently explain any questions I had and they’ve always been available wherever I needed to call them and book an appointment.
