Our first time with Oak Vets as our dog has been traumatised by previous vets and we refuse to sedate him just for annual booster. ALL staff were wonderful with him, patient and kind. The place was spotless and price unbelievable. Thank you all for your kindness yesterday.

I honestly cannot recommend Oak Vets in Potters Bar highly enough (151 High Street, EN6 5BB). I have two cats, and I used to take them to a well-known vet in North London, who were always lovely and very helpful. However, when one of my young cats suddenly became very unwell and his life was at risk, we found ourselves in a really difficult situation without insurance. We were told that just diagnosing the issue would cost over £3,000, and if surgery was needed, it could rise to nearly £7,000. As you can imagine, I was absolutely devastated and didn’t know what to do 😱😓 Thankfully, that vet practice kindly referred me to Oak Vets—and I will be forever grateful they did. From the moment I arrived, the team at Oak Vets were incredible. Thomas and Sanjay took such amazing care of my cat. Not only did they manage to treat him for around £700 instead of the initial quote, but they quite literally saved his life. He had severe bladder crystals and was in a very poor condition, but thanks to their expertise and care, he made a full recovery. What really stood out was their compassion, honesty, and ongoing support. I was calling frequently over the following weeks with updates and questions, and they were always patient, reassuring, and informative. Nearly a year later, I’ve continued using them and recently went back for annual boosters for both of my cats. I even saved around £30 per cat compared to my previous vet, just by driving an extra 10 minutes. The vets are experienced, knowledgeable, and you really feel you’re in safe hands. It’s also not a big chain, which makes a huge difference in both care and cost. Plus, there’s free parking at the back, which is so convenient. If you’re in North London or nearby, I would absolutely recommend making the short trip to Oak Vets. They truly care, and they made an incredibly stressful situation manageable, and ultimately, they saved my cat. Thank you so much to the whole team 🧡

Oak Vets have taken such wonderful care of my dog, Ava, since I registered her in January 2025. She has had a dental clean and blood tests, which identified some liver issues that she was able to start medication for, and this really helped her. Last year, she was sadly diagnosed with adenocarcinoma, which Tom detected quickly and operated on urgently the very next day. Ava was quite a complicated case and remained unwell for some time afterwards with a high temperature. At several points it wasn’t looking very hopeful, but thanks to Tom’s medical plan and care, she made a great recovery. It’s now nearly eight months since then, and sadly she has recently been diagnosed with pelvic cancer. However, I’m very grateful to say she has continued to be looked after incredibly well by the team. What I really appreciate about this practice is that they don’t recommend tests unnecessarily just to make money, unlike some other vets I have visited in the past. I truly feel that they genuinely care about Ava. I would 100% recommend this practice. A special thank you to Tom, who has mostly cared for Ava, and of course to the entire team - I know it’s always a team effort.

Our African Grey parrot, we thought sprained his leg where identity ring was attached. After booking him in, it was assessed the ring needed to be removed but could only be done whilst he was sleeping under gas which was worrying due to the risks. However, all went more than well, ring removed, to reveal no sprain but a very bad infection caused by the ring. A week of treatment and all looking very very good and surprisingly today, he decided to fly onto the vet (something he will never to do apart from myself), as if knowing vet saved him and a way of “thank you”. Remarkable. This surgery, this team are absolutely fantastic and their prices are very good too.

Although we’ve been really pleased with another local vet, we decided to get a second opinion after being recommended by a lady who has used this practice (and the veterinary surgeon) for years. Seen the same day by a vet who could see that my dog’s anxiety and night time waking was not only causing him distress but us too. Prescribed medication, and very close follow up - we are delighted with the outcome and now have a much happier dog. Thank you also to the staff, who are all kind and knowledgeable. Brilliant service!

I lost my beloved cockerpoo in July and they were so kind and reassuring. We have now had our German Shepherd spayed and my new cockerpoo castrated and I wouldn't go anywhere else now. Thoroughly recommend them.

What a pleasure it is to find a vet whose main aim is to care for your pet and not to make money out of you. I have three dogs and Sanjay and his colleagues provide a 5 star service to all of them. They all clearly love animals and never try to rip you off. Having previously used Medivet and been fleeced on several occasions I am delighted with Oaks. Thoroughly recommended.
